Welcome to Anytown School for the 20##-20## school year! At the
start of this new journey, we all look forward to a successful and fulfilling class. Right now, I'd like to take a few
moments to introduce myself to you.
My name is Mrs. Colleen Thompson, and I will be your 7th/8th grade math
teacher. I graduated high school in 2003 and went straight to college at ASU at the West Campus. I studied there
for the next four years, joining the College of Teacher Education and Leadership in the spring of 2005, and graduating Summa
Cum Laude in the spring of 2007. I did not go immediately into teaching, but rather chose to stay home with my young
children for the next few years, while at the same time working toward my Master's degree. I completed my Master's degree
in 20## and began teaching the following fall. And that's what I've been doing ever since!
I love teaching. This is my passion. I wanted to be a teacher ever since
junior high where I had some wonderful teachers myself who showed me that there is so much more to teaching than people
expect. As a teacher, I have the ability to influence my students and touch their lives with everything I do.
That is an incredible feeling! I get to see you children change and grow, develop a sense of yourselves, and decide
really for the first time who you are and what you want to do with your lives. I can only hope that the
impact I have on you is one that causes you to strive to fulfill your highest potentials and become people who make
positive differences in other's lives.
In my classroom, all students are
diverse. Because of this, every student will be treated in a way that best addresses your needs as an individual.
However, there are some students that will need a little extra help from me. These students require more effort on my
part to make sure that they do not fall between the cracks, which is unfortunately so often the case. I will do my best to provide a rich, natural, hands-on experience for all my students, especially you
who face more struggles than your fellow classmates, in an attempt to improve every aspect of your learning process. Every student in my classroom has the potential to succeed, and it is my job to see
that I do everything in my power to help you reach that potential. I believe all students can learn, and I am dedicated
to meeting the needs of diverse learners.
